When going about making a drawing in Photoshop I follow a few steps.
1. First I need to figure out what i want to draw (lately i have been drawing animals). When I know what I want to draw I then look up images for my selection. Reference material is an important part of any drawing.
2. Next I make a sketch, usually not the best thing ever. However the better the sketch the more time it will save me in the long run.
Here is a quick sketch of a cow that i did.
3. I then scan this in and put down a background and block the cow out.
This is not the best looking thing because i am doing this after i have completed the final work.
4. The important thing is that I move my sketch up each time I create a new layer so that I am always building on top of the sketch that I have done. This makes it easier when I have mapped out shadows and other small details.
5. There now the cow has a bit more shape to him. Now for a bit more.
6. One thing is that I am not perfect, he is obviously missing his back hoof. I get mixed up on layers, that is why it is important to label layers so everything is where you want it to be.
7. Alright and not much more is added here, a few small details and I'm Finished.
